中国公布住房公积金年度报告

Chinese authorities have, for the first time, released an annual report on the status of this country's public housing fund.

中国政府首次就国内住房公积金情况发布一份年度报告。

Stats show the number of people contributing to the public housing fund hit 118-million last year, an increase of 9-percent compared with 2013.

Figures also show 758-billion yuan was withdrawn from the fund this past year.

That's just under 60-percent of the amount put into the system in 2014.

The Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development says around three-quarters of the money withdrawn from the system last year was used to purchase homes.

At the same time, Ministry official Zhang Qiguang says they're now working on plans to make the fund more accessable to people who live in areas outside of where their household registration, or hukou, is located.

"There are still quite a number of cities with an individual loan ratio below 50 percent. The public housing fund is managed by the city concerned and can only be used within the city. We are now studying ways to establish a coordination mechanism within a single province."
