欧盟财政部长共商预防财政危机良策

A European Union taskforce of finance ministers is to meet in Brussels later to brainstorm ways to prevent another crisis like that in Greece.

Euro ministers hope to prevent a repeat of the Greece crisis

There will be changes proposed to EU budget rules to tighten up financial regulation.

Ministers will also discuss Germany's unilateral（单边的） ban on naked short-selling, and future co-ordination of such market-moving decisions.

But despite a desire to seek consensus（一致，合意） , many nations will have their own ideas.

One idea on the table is to look at national budget proposals（预算草案） in the first six months of the year instead of the second six months.

However this idea may be controversial with the UK, as Chancellor George Osborne has said he believes parliament should have the primacy when it comes to information on national budgets.

The EU ministers will also examine the possibility of more severe sanctions in the event of（如果，万一） a country not complying with the stability and growth pact.

That could entail enforced deposits being made by a country if it is seen to be stepping out of line on debt, with money in the bank demanded upfront to cover the country in case of debt difficulties.

Another proposed stricture（狭窄，苛评） could be putting in place restrictions on the money a country can receive from the EU in the event of it racking up（击倒，获胜） too much debt.

The meeting will be held under the chairmanship of EU President Herman Van Rompuy.
