中国首张电子社保卡已签发
The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security has issued China's first nationally-unified digital social security card at the ongoing Digital China Summit in Fuzhou, Fujian Province.
在福建福州召开的数字中国建设峰会上,人力资源和社会保障部签发了中国首张统一电子社保卡。
Linked to Alipay, the e-social security card allows direct access to services including record inquiries and medical payments.
Recipients of the new cards will be given a unique QR code which they can scan for services.
China's social security system has around 1.12 billion card holders, which is over 80 percent of the population.
Ministry officials promise the new cards are secure, noting they require passwords, fingerprints and facial recognition.
The new e-cards are being put out on a trial basis in various cities across China. The new e-social security cards follow the release last week of new electronic personal ID cards.
