中国抗疟药治愈3亿非洲人
China has aided African countries with 50 million batches of the anti-malaria drug artemisinin, which have cured over 300 million Africans suffering from malaria, according to China's Ministry of Commerce.
中国商务部表示，中国已援助非洲国家5000万批抗疟药青蒿素，这些药物已治愈3亿感染疟疾的非洲人。
"For a long time now, China has helped Africa in a variety of ways to fight malaria, a deadly mosquito-borne disease in Africa," said the MOC on its official Wechat account.
MOC research has found that China-produced artemisinin drugs, discovered by Chinese researcher and Nobel Prize winner Tu Youyou, have become particularly effective in the fight against malaria in Africa.
"Thanks to Chinese-backed anti-malaria drug projects, artemisinin is gradually being recognized in African countries," said the MOC in its statement "Chinese pharmaceutical makers are now able to compete with western pharmaceutical companies inf Africa, which have dominated African market for a long time," the statement has concluded.
