国产特斯拉model3本周五开始预订
America's leading electric vehicle maker Tesla Inc. announced on Wednesday that reservations will open on Friday, May 31, for the second-generation Model 3 that it will manufacture in Shanghai, according to a report by thepaper.cn.
美国顶级电动汽车生产商特斯拉周三宣布，产自上海的第二代Model3将于5月31日本周五开启预订。
Customers in China will be able to choose from among four versions of the Model 3 being offered at the official Tesla China website. The cheapest model on offer has a sticker price of 377,000 yuan (54,500 U.S. dollars).
Construction began on Tesla's Model 3 factory in Lingang, Shanghai on January 7 this year. It was the first foreign direct investment project to be launched in China after the government eliminated the 50 percent upper limit for foreign equity ownership of new energy vehicle manufacturers in June 2018. It was also the largest-ever foreign investment project in Shanghai's manufacturing sector.
Based on Tesla's financial report for the first quarter of 2019, the cost for each unit of capacity at the Shanghai factory will be 50 percent less than at its factory in Fremont in the United States.
The company's CEO, Elon Musk, estimates that the factory in Shanghai will be able to produce 1,000 to 2,000 cars each week.
