中国成世界第四大移民外迁国
China has become the world fourth biggest out-migration country after India, Mexico, and Russia, according to the recently released 2018 World Migration Report by the International Organization for Migration and the Center for China and Globalization.
国际移民组织和中国与全球化研究中心近期公布的2018世界移民报告显示,中国继印度、墨西哥和俄罗斯之后成为世界第四大外迁国。
By 2015, nearly 10 million Chinese had moved out of China, with more than two million choosing to live in the United States. Overseas students account for the bulk of the migrants, with most of them choosing to study in the United States, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Many of them take up residence in the country after graduation.
Because of the large community of Chinese people living overseas, China received a significant inflow of remittances, said the report. China received 60 billion U.S. dollars in remittances in 2016, three times more than the sum that flowed into the country in 2015.
Internal migration is also common in China. A large number of laborers migrate from the less-developed middle and western regions to the eastern coastal provinces in search of greater job opportunities, better education, and higher income.
