An unmanned delivery vehicle supported by 5G networks was tested on the road on Saturday in Nanjing, east China's Jiangsu Province, jiemian.com reported.

Developed by Suning, China's major retailer, the vehicle is part of efforts to improve the company's delivery service with 5G technologies.
During the test, the 5G vehicle successfully delivered a package to a customer. It is also capable of stopping in time to avoid running pedestrians over, according to an online video footage.
The vehicle runs at an average speed of 8km per hour, 15 km per hour at maximum. Equipped with 5G networks, the vehicle is capable of detecting traffic lights and objects within 100 meters around it and makes a response.
A human can intervene in its operation at any time.
Chinese telecom companies ZTE and China Mobile also offered assistance during the test.
