莎士比亚故乡建牡丹亭

A replica of a pavilion based on a famous Chinese play has been unveiled in Shakespeare's hometown.

根据一出闻名的中国戏剧建造的凉亭复制品在莎士比亚的故乡建成。

The six-meter tall Peony Pavilion was put in the Firs Garden in Stratford-upon-Avon.

City mayor John Bicknell says it's another highlight marking the cultural links between Britain and China.

"I'm very pleased to be here at the opening ceremony for the pavilion. It's a symbol of the growing friendship between our two communities. I hope it will be the base of future cultural relations in the years to come," says Bicknell.

The first overseas Peony Pavilion is built based on a masterpiece with the same name written by Chinese playwright Tang Xianzu more than four centuries ago.

Tang and Shakespeare are regarded as contemporaries, since they're two famous playwrights living in the same era.
