大众将花费147亿美元解决与排放作弊丑闻有关的消费者诉讼和政府指控。
US Deputy Attorney General Sally Quillian Yates says while the announcement is an important step forward, more penalties for the German car manufacturer are yet to come.
"The settlements do not resolve the government's pending claims for civil penalties under the Clean Air Act, nor do they resolve pending claims concerning the 3-litre diesel vehicles. In addition, the settlements do not address any potential criminal liability, although I assure you our criminal investigation is active and ongoing."
Volkswagen has been ordered to pay over 10 billion US dollars to either buy back or repair nearly 500-thousand automobiles with cheating 2-liter diesel engines in the US.
It will also have to compensate car owners with anywhere between 5-thousand and 10-thousand US dollars.
