Haiyang nuclear power plant to generate electricity in 2010
Chinanews, Yantai, May 9 – State Development and Reform Commission recently approved the plan for the Haiyang nuclear power plant project in Shandong Province.According to the decision made by experts of nuclear energy, the Haiyang project will use the most advanced nuclear technology, and the first-stage work of the project will involve the construction of two million-kilowatt generating units.
The project is divided into three stages, during which six million-kilowatt generating units will be built. The first-stage work will be accomplished and power generating will be started in 2010.
When the whole Haiyang project is totally completed, it will become China's largest nuclear energy project. It will also help accelerate Shandong's economic development.
