中国将发射一颗监测全球碳含量的卫星

A satellite that can monitor global carbon levels will be launched this month by China.

本月中国将发射一颗监测全球碳含量的卫星。

The orbiting carbon observatory satellite is not only one of the best satellites of its kind, but is also the first for China.

The satellite works through highly accurate detectors of cloud, aerosol and carbon monoxide, explained an employee of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

After scanning the earth every sixteen days, the satellite will send the statistics down to earth. The analyzed data will read the carbon profiles of all regions at any season. It will calculate the carbon data over the seas and oceans and analyze ground reflection and observe the changes and fluctuations.

Global warming is mainly led by gases like carbon dioxide. Earlier this year, a number of countries signed the Paris, promising to reduce their carbon emissions. Reducing carbon emissions is a global problem that needs a global solution, and utilize this technology will enable China to gain a better understanding of the global state of carbon emissions, The Paper reported.
