China's first self-developed mid-speed maglev train for commercial use has been rolled off the assembly line in Zhuzhou City of central China's Hunan Province.

Developed by CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive Co. Ltd. and Hunan Maglev Technology Research Center, the new train can run at a speed of up to 160 km/h with a maximum passenger capacity of 500.
The rails, power supply system and signal control system required for the new train are compatible with current mid-to-low speed maglev trains, but the highest speed is much higher than the latter's 100 km/h.
The train will go into pilot run this August in Changsha, and the whole mid-speed maglev transport system is expected to be completed by the end of this year. By then, it will be the world's first mid-speed maglev transport system for commercial use.
