姚明有望成为下届cba主席
Chinese media reports are suggesting that former NBA player Yao Ming is the top favorite candidate to be elected the new chairman of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) this March.
中国媒体报道显示，NBA前球员姚明有望在今年三月当选中国篮球协会新任主席。
According to a report by 163.com, the CBA hopes its new leader would have basketball-related experience, be familiar with the development of the sport both in China and abroad, in addition to having made outstanding contributions to Chinese basketball. The association is also reportedly looking for a reputable candidate who can strengthen the influence of Chinese basketball.
The report also concludes that Yao Ming is the most qualified candidate to fill the role.
Yao has already been confirmed to co-head a transition team to prepare for the organization's upcoming elections in March.
The transition team will also work on the establishment of a CBA corporation that aims to build a better business model for Chinese basketball.
Yao will head the team together with Li Jinsheng, who is currently serving as Vice President of the CBA.
However, since the CBA chairman must not be a basketball club investor, Yao, a boss of the Shanghai Sharks, would have to resign from that post, says the 163.com report.
