印尼爆发洪水泥石流 26人死亡

Flash floods and landslides triggered by several days of heavy rain in Indonesia have killed at least 26 people, officials say.

印尼官员称，连日以来的暴雨所引发的骤发洪水和泥石流已造成26人死亡。

Many more people are injured or missing in the Teluk Wondama district of West Papua.

Roads and bridges have been washed away and hundreds of homes, schools and businesses have been damaged or destroyed.

Local officials have appealed for tents and medicines.

"We are still searching for the missing people," Papua search and rescue official Mochamad Arifin told AFP news agency.

"There are still many people to be found. There is still hope that some of them are still alive."

Rescue workers and residents（居民） are reported to be sifting through（通过） the thick mud in their search for survivors.

"I heard a roar and suddenly the river near my home broke its banks," said Ira Wanoni, describing a flood which struck his village, Wasio.

"Water mixed with rocks, mud and logs gushed（涌出，迸发） out... Many people didn't have time to save themselves," he told AP news agency.
