昂山素季首次访华
Leader of Myanmar's National League for Democracy (NLD) Aung San Suu Kyi begins her first visit to China on Wednesday.
缅甸全国民主联盟领袖昂山素季本周三将首次访华。
Suu Kyi, chairperson of the NLD, will be in China for five days until the weekend, according to the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.
China’s Foreign Ministry has said state and Party leaders will meet with Suu Kyi and her delegation.
The ministry has described the visit as a party-to-party exchange, saying it’s an important component of China-Myanmar relations.
It says China has maintained long-term friendly exchanges with all parties in Myanmar, including the NLD.
Ties between China and Myanmar became strained earlier this year after Myanmar government forces, fighting rebel groups in the country's northeast, inadvertently bombed a village on the Chinese side of the border.
