法国对伊斯兰国家组织发动首轮空袭
France has carried out its first airs strikes against the Islamist State group in Syria, saying the group has threatened the security of France.
法国对叙利亚伊斯兰国家组织发动首轮空袭,称该组织威胁到法国的安全。
Six French warplanes were used to strike an IS training camp near the eastern city of Deir Ezzor.
The strikes come at a time when hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees are fleeing into Europe, bringing heavy pressure to bear on local governments.
French President Francois Hollande said more air strikes could follow in the coming weeks.
"Other strikes may take place in the coming weeks if necessary with the same objective: to identify targets which correspond to training camps or places where we know that the terrorist group Dae-ish could threaten the security of our country, or carry out terrorist actions."
France has been taking part in the US-led coalition bombarding in Iraq since a year ago, but limited its air strikes on the extremist group to Iraqi territory.
