Tunisians are casting ballots in the country's first presidential election since former leader Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali was ousted in 2011.

Polls have closed on Sunday with no major incidents being reported.
 
"The majority of people do not feel reassured when they go out, because criminality has increased and there is some instability in the country. We need a President who knows these things and can solve them totally."
 
Interim president Moncef Marzouki and 87-year-old anti-Islamist leader Beji Essebsi are both claiming victory.
 
Preliminary results are going to be announced later on this week.
 
If none of the 25 candidates in the running gains an outright majority, there will be a runoff at the end of next month.
 
In Tunisia, while the main power resides with parliament, the presidency does hold some responsibilities for defense and foreign affairs.
